INTERIM CONTROLLER

INTERIM CONTROLLER RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead day-to-day accounting operations in a technology or SaaS environment, ensuring financial accuracy and compliance.
• Oversee and execute financial close processes (monthly, quarterly, and annual), including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, ASC 606, ASC 340, and SEC reporting requirements, particularly for revenue recognition, software capitalization, deferred revenue, and stock-based compensation.
• Establish and maintain strong internal controls over financial transactions, including SOX compliance and documentation of accounting policies.
• Collaborate with FP&A, Tax, Treasury, and business leaders to drive financial insights, process improvements, and system automation.
• Support audit readiness and external audits, ensuring adherence to tech industry regulations and best practices.

REQUIREMENTS:

• 5+ years of accounting experience, with a strong focus on financial close and technology/SaaS industry experience.
• CPA required (Big 4 or public accounting experience preferred).
• Expertise in tech industry accounting areas, including software capitalization, ASC 606 revenue recognition, and stock-based compensation.
• Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, or Oracle.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, ASC 606 (revenue recognition), ASC 340 (software costs), and SOX compliance.
• Ability to effectively communicate financial insights and recommendations to executive leadership.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proven ability to work in a high-growth, fast-paced tech environment, balancing multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
• This is a remote position, ideally suited for candidates in the Bay Area.
